14 Albion players get international call-ups

Players heading all over the world in October to represent their countries.

Albion could have as many as 14 players on international duty around the world next month.

It’s the latest round of Nations League qualifiers, but the Republic of Ireland also face a European Championship play-off against Slovakia on 8th October and Stephen Kenny’s squad, which was named on Tuesday, includes Aaron Connolly, Jayson Molumby and Shane Duffy. Ireland also face two Nations League qualifiers against Wales and Finland.

Warren O’Hora completes a quartet of Albion players in the Ireland squad after his call-up for their European U21 Championship qualifier against Italy.

Under-23s striker Ben Wilson has been called up for Northern Ireland for the first time. Wilson, who scored twice against Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy earlier this month, is in their squad for U21 qualifiers against Finland and Ukraine. 

Davy Propper and Joel Veltman will link up with the Netherlands squad next week for Nations League games against Bosnia and Italy as well as a friendly international with Mexico. Leo Ostigard has been named in Norway's squad for their games against Serbia, Romania and Northern Ireland. 

Leandro Trossard, who made his Belgium debut earlier this month, has retained his place in the squad for a friendly against New Zealand and the Nations League fixture against England at Wembley on 11th October.

Two Albion players will be involved when South American qualifying for the 2024 World Cup gets underway.

Alexis Mac Allister is in Argentina’s squad for the matches against Ecuador and Bolivia while Steven Alzate is included by Colombia for games against Venezuela and Chile.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh will head to Iran for a training camp and friendly against Uzbekistan while Yves Bissouma is included in Mali’s squad for a friendly against Ghana.

Viktor Gyokeres has been named in Sweden’s squad for European U21 qualifiers at home to Armenia and Luxembourg while Under-18 squad member Toby Collyer is heading to St George’s Park for a training camp with England’s under-17 squad.
