Cecilie Fiskerstrand and Kayleigh Green could go from team-mates to rivals when qualifying for the Women’s European Championships continues this week.
They are two of seven Seagulls’ players involved in qualifying games over the next few days with Fiskerstrand’s Norway taking on Green’s Wales in Oslo next Tuesday.
Inessa Kaagman and Danique Kerkdijk left within ten minutes of the final whistle on Sunday, after helping Albion to a 0-0 draw against Manchester City, so they could link up with the Holland squad who take on Russia in Moscow on Friday.
There are three Albion players – Denise O’Sullivan, Megan Connolly and Rianna Jarrett – in the Republic of Ireland squad for their match against Germany in Essen on Saturday.
Head coach Hope Powell said, “It will be quite a quiet week on the training ground with seven players away but they will all be keen to help their countries qualify for the finals.”
The European Championships are being hosted by England and have been put back 12 months to 2022 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Three group-stage matches will take place at the Amex.
