The Seagulls are back in action on Thursday against Southampton at St Mary’s as they look to recover from back to back defeats against the Premier League’s top two Liverpool and Manchester City.

With the four sides below 15th-placed Albion in the table all winning on Saturday, it’s still all to play for in the remaining three games. After facing the Saints, the Seagulls take on Newcastle United next Monday before finishing the season at Burnley on Sunday week.

Trossard said, “We want to be safe from relegation on our terms. Saturday was disappointing but we have moved on. The focus now is to try and get three points against Southampton on Thursday.”

Trossard, who scored in successive games against Norwich and Liverpool, felt facing two of the league’s heavyweights in quick succession took its toll against City.

Leandro Trossard scores the only goal of the game in the victory at Norwich City.

“We weren’t at our level on Saturday and when that happens it is tough play against a side like Manchester City, especially as we’d played Liverpool three days earlier,” he said.

“We didn’t win enough second balls and because they won them it became even harder as they have the quality to play through you. If you are not on your level they are one of the hardest teams in the league to play against.

“But we know we can and will do better in the next game against Southampton. We have to clear our heads and concentrate on the next challenge.”
