Every day between now and the weekend we’ll be profiling an Albion player to keep an eye on in the last nine games of the 2019/20 Premier League season – first up is Alexis Mac Allister.

Good things come to those who wait, and that could well be the case for the 21-year-old.

After returning to the club following his loan spell with Boca Juniors on the final day of the January transfer window, Mac Allister linked up with his Albion teammates for the first time since he joined the club in January 2019.

After a month of getting up to speed on the training pitch and adjusting to new surroundings off it, he pulled on a Seagulls shirt for the first time in the final 13 minutes of Albion’s 0-0 draw away to Wolves on 7th March.

Graham Potter’s Albion side have not played since then, so it will be more than three months since his last action when Albion resume against Arsenal at the Amex on Saturday.

Mac Allister will no doubt have seen his former teammates at Boca Juniors pick up the Argentinian league title in the last few weeks, and he’ll be hungry to hit the ground running when the season resumes.

“He’s not really been able to integrate himself or adjust to British culture as much as he would like, because for the first few weeks of lockdown he was stuck in his flat,” said Potter.

“But he’s a professional and determined guy and came back in really good shape, like the rest of the players. He’s itching to play football.

“He’s had a tough introduction to life over here. But he’s got a smile on his face and he’s ready to go.”
