Head coach Graham Potter has acknowledged the challenges his side are facing as they adjust from their normal routine.

It’s is a difficult situation, but the boss says that it has brought about some positives in their everyday lives.

He said, “Generally the players are well, but they’re human beings and it’s not comfortable,” he added.

“They would much rather be on the training pitch playing football or being able to do all the things that everyone else would like to do.

“Not having a game every weekend to prepare for makes a huge difference, but they want to be playing football. One or two are not sleeping so well and the unknown of what’s going to happen is a challenge.

“Some will deal with it better than others, so we make sure we keep in contact. But generally, their attitude and mentality has been really positive.”

Barber & Potter press conference

Among the adjustments Potter and his players and staff have had to make is being at home far more than they may be used to.

“Everyone is trying to adapt to their own situation together and my family are like anybody, we have our moments!” he added.

“But from speaking to the players it’s not as stressful as when the season is on.

“I think that’s a good thing. Families see the players and coaches a little bit more relaxed.”

Potter confirmed that Jose Izquierdo is rehabilitating following knee surgery in his native Colombia, but the rest of the squad are still in the UK.

“Jose is okay,” he added. “The medical department and sports science team have been keeping in touch with him.”
