Dan Burn has praised the impact Graham Potter has made as one of the ‘new group’ of managers at the highest level of the English game.

Like Potter, who signed a new contract earlier this season, Burn is committed long-term to the Albion after agreeing an extended deal until the end of the 2022/23 season a few weeks ago.

He said, “He’s had a huge influence, not just on me but the squad as a whole.

“I think he’s part of that new group of coaches looking to make an impression. A lot of the old-school managers have fallen out of the game.

“The lads have really brought into his methods, the depth he goes into organising strategic plays, repetition and his overall philosophy.

“For a lot of the season it’s worked well, maybe not results wise, but you can see the difference between the team this season and last season, there is a lot more improvements. And we’re confident the wins will come.”

When that opportunity arises remains to be seen with the league shutdown until at least 4th April because of the coronavirus.

In terms of his own future, Burn was delighted to sign his new contract as he continues to adopt to his different position as a left back rather than the central defensive role he played for most of his career prior to Potter’s arrival.

“I’m excited about the future and it’s nice that the club showed faith in me - I have loved playing here and playing the games so it was nice to get that new contract.

“I have played against a lot of good players this season, but this is why I want to play in this league, I want to test myself against the best. Because of my height I was always stuck at the back and I enjoy defending. I’ve played a lot of games this season and feel as I have improved.”
