The French striker felt his sixth Premier League goal of the season should have secured a victory in the derby at Selhurst Park, but Wilfried Zaha equalised for Palace 14 minutes from time to mean it finished a point apiece tonight.
Maupay said: “We definitely should have won the game, we put pressure on them and played better than them. They scored a nice goal, but it’s disappointing to have only got a point.
“I knew this game means a lot to the fans – and to me as well – and it’s unfortunate it didn’t get us three points, I felt we deserved more.”
Maupay says he is relishing Albion’s possession-based style and playing with confidence after scoring for the third successive game.
“As a striker, when you are scoring goals it is easier to go and play,” he added. “I am working hard for the team and getting my rewards but there is always more you can do. I’ll keep working each day to get better and add more to my game.
“The season has been very enjoyable with our style – the next step is to win more games for us now, and make the most of the chances we create within matches.”
