Here are five things we learned from Graham Potter’s first Amex outing since the Head Coach signed his contract extension.

1. Ryan effective offensively and defensively

Albion fans have become accustomed to Maty Ryan’s shot-stopping over the last few weeks, but his ability to instigate attacks and contribute in an offensive sense is sometimes over-looked.

The 27-year-old made two crucial first-half saves to prevent Wolves from extending their advantage, but the quality he possesses to play out from the back is impressive. He started the move which led to Albion’s first goal by Neal Maupay when his pass to Dale Stephens allowed the midfielder space to pick out Maupay’s run and fine finish.

2. Confidence in Potter’s tactical approach

Coming off the back of an impressive 2-1 win at the Emirates, it was clear to see the belief and confidence Albion gained from their first away win over one of the so-called ‘top six.’

Despite conceding the first goal of the afternoon, the Seagulls continued to play out from the back and operate the Potter way. Despite some nervy moments against a Wolves side unbeaten in 11, Albion dominated possession (61%), created several chances and were the more threatening team in the second half.

3. Bounce-back ability

Albion showed their ability to recover from setbacks with two goals in less than three minutes turning the game on its head.

Potter remained the calmest man inside the Amex when he saw his side go 1-0 down, which showed the confidence he had that his players could turn things around. The ability to respond strongly to setbacks will be crucial to Albion’s hopes of continuing their climb up the table.

4. Maupay clinical in front of goal

Finding a striker who can regularly find the net at the top level is difficult but Maupay could turn out to be that man for Albion.

Neal Maupay scored Albion's first goal of the afternoon.

The 23-year-old netted 25 times in 43 Championship appearances for Brentford last season and the France striker is now showcasing his talents at Premier League level. Maupay’s clinical first-time strike was his sixth of the season. He won’t set any personal targets but Glenn Murray’s record of 13 top-flight goals for Albion must be in his sights.

5. Moving on up

Four points against Arsenal and Wolves is evidence that Potter’s men can compete with the best in the Premier League. Sunday's point keeps them 12th in the table and with five more games between now and 1st January there is plenty of opportunity for the Seagulls to continue their upward momentum.
