Albion hearts were broken when Matt Targett’s strike deep into injury time secured the hosts - who had a numerical advantage for an hour - a narrow win, and Potter commended the tremendous effort from his players in the West Midlands.
He said, “I said I was proud of them. There are not too many times where I’ve stood by the side of a pitch and been more proud of a group of players, because of the circumstances, for how they played and what they put into it.
“I thought they were magnificent. I’m just disappointed for them, and our travelling supporters, who I thought were also very good.
“I was disappointed that we couldn’t hold on for a point, but at times we were trying to win the game. That was the way we wanted to go, and the outcome of the game is especially frustrating when you look at how we played in the first half and the dominance we had.
“If it had stayed at 11 v 11, I think we would’ve won the game.”

Saturday’s result was one of a number of games where Albion haven’t got the rewards for their endeavours, but Potter stressed the importance of not becoming disheartened.
“Sometimes you can’t control the football result. It’s as simple as that.
“We have to carry on with our performance level and the way we’re trying to play, as well as sticking together. That’s the process we have to go through.”
