Run 10k For Aitc

By Richard Morris • 23 January 2019

Albion in the Community is asking Brighton & Hove Albion fans to tackle a 10k and raise money to support its award-winning work in Sussex.

The BM10K takes place in Brighton and Hove on Sunday 14th April and AITC has free places available for anyone keen to fundraise for its work.

Signing up for a fundraising challenge is one of the best ways Seagulls fans can support AITC, with the sponsorship money collected helping to fund much of the charity’s local delivery.

AITC is the largest provider of football opportunities for people with a disability, with more than 500 players regularly attending one of its 30 disability sessions. It also runs an array of health programmes, works with 148 local schools, and provides free football to more than 1,500 young people living in areas of deprivation.

Emma Brockhurst, fundraising events executive at AITC, hoped supporters would take the opportunity to combine raising money for the charity with setting themselves a goal – possibly as a way of motivating themselves to maintain any fitness-themed New Year’s resolutions.

She said, “Challenging yourself to complete a 10k is a fantastic way to stay focused and give yourself something to aim for. Not only that, but your support will also help us continue to provide opportunities and support to people throughout the local community – people who may otherwise not have the opportunity to play the sport they love.”

AITC also has places available for the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 24th February and the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 14th April.

And anyone who prefers cycling to running can still support the charity’s work in 2019 by signing up for its next European cycle challenge, which is taking place this June and
involves riding between the French port of Calais and the finish line in Antwerp.
