U23 Preview: Albion Continue Title Chase Against Swansea

By Kieran Cleeves • 05 April 2019

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s will look to close the gap on league leaders Everton this evening, as they continue their challenge for the Premier League 2 Division 1 title against Swansea City at the Amex Stadium, kick-off 7pm.

The Seagulls find themselves four points behind the Toffees with three matches remaining, and Simon Rusk’s team will travel to Goodison Park on Monday 15th April to play the Merseyside club in their penultimate match of the campaign.

Tonight’s opponents sit bottom of the league table and defeat for the Swans would confirm their relegation to the second tier of Premier League under-23 football.

Rusk’s team trailed 2-0 when the sides met in the reverse fixture back in November, but Aaron Connolly’s brace drew the Seagulls level in the second half before Viktor Gyokeres fired the winner in the final moments.

Albion are seven matches unbeaten in the PL2 ahead of this evening’s contest, after winning three consecutive games before a 2-2 draw at Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Everton travel to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, and the Seagulls will be desperate to close the gap to just one point to apply pressure on the Toffees before their visit later this month.
