Brighton & Hove Albion recovered from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw for a second time in a row, as Glenn Murray's stoppage-time penalty rescued a point against Southampton.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Danny Ings looked to have put the Saints into an unassailable lead, but Murray struck late on to claim a point after Shane Duffy had halved the deficit.

Hughton made one change to the side that drew 2-2 with Fulham, as Yves Bissouma replaced the injured Pascal Gross.

The first chance of the game fell to Saints as Ryan Bertrand was allowed to race down the left flank and pick out Shane Long at the far post, but the latter’s header was comfortably saved by Maty Ryan.

The game gradually livened up after a cagey start, and it was Gaetan Bong and Solly March that linked up well to tee up Anthony Knockaert with a chance, but the Frenchman saw his shot blocked.

Nathan Redmond made a driving run down the other end and picked out Long, whose shot was deflected wide - but the bigger scare came from the resulting corner.

Hojbjerg headed the ball back across the box and after several blocked attempts inside the area, Wesley Hoedt fired over the bar from just a few yards out.

Redmond continued to look lively down the left flank and this time picked out the towering Mohamed Elyounoussi, who headed wide at the back post.

The hosts took the lead in emphatic fashion with 35 minutes played through Hojbjerg, as he latched onto a loose ball and rifled in a low-driven strike from distance.

Hughton’s men had a golden chance to level the scores shortly after the re-start when Davy Propper headed wide from Martin Montoya’s drifted ball into the box.

But Southampton still carried a threat, as Long latched onto a searching ball over the top of the defence, but the forward put his effort wide of the target.

Moments later Knockaert pulled the trigger from the edge of the area and stung the gloves of Alex McCarthy with his strike.

Despite showing signs of improvement, Albion were dealt another setback when Danny Ings was sent tumbling inside the area and the Liverpool loanee’s subsequent penalty nestled into the bottom left-hand corner with 65 minutes played.

But the deficit was halved just two minutes later courtesy of Duffy, who rose highest to meet Knockaert’s in-swinging set-piece to make it 2-1.

Ings could’ve got his second and Southampton’s third after capitalising on a lapse in concentration in Albion’s defence, but the striker saw his speculative effort curl just wide.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh was brought on in place of March with 20 minutes remaining and nearly had the desired effect when the Iranian flicked Knockaert’s cut-back just wide.

Jurgen Locadia was introduced late on and the Dutchman was quickly involved in the action, as he narrowly missed Bong’s in-swinging cross.

But just when it looked like Albion would be beaten, referee Anthony Taylor spotted an infringement inside the box and Albion were awarded a penalty. Murray fired straight down the middle to claim a dramatic late point, and send the away end into raptures.
