Loan Round-up: Non-league Day Success

By Kieran Cleeves • 15 October 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 full-back Joe Tomlinson helped Bognor Regis Town clinch a stoppage-time victory against Bostik Premier Division league-leaders Tonbridge Angels on Saturday afternoon.

The Rooks continued their unbeaten start to the league season and Tomlinson played the full 90 minutes for Jack Pearce’s side, who secured their first away victory of the league campaign and moved to within two points of Tonbridge.

Also in action on Non-League Day was Jordan Maguire-Drew. The winger played the opening hour of Wrexham’s 2-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

The 21-year-old’s loan club were heading for the top of the Vanarama National League, but Salford City’s late equaliser against Braintree Town ensured the Red Dragons would finish the day second on goal difference.

Robert Sanchez made his 13th appearance for Forest Green Rovers in Saturday’s early kick off, but the Spaniard was unable to prevent Mark Cooper’s team from retaining their title of being the only unbeaten side in the EFL.

Aaron Pierre cancelled out Rueben Reid’s opener to bring Northampton Town level at Sixfields, and with seven minutes of second-half stoppage time on the clock, Andy Williams fired home the winning goal for the hosts.

Steven Alzate also featured in England’s fourth tier on Saturday afternoon, coming off the bench in the 53rd minute to make his 15th appearance for Swindon Town.

The Robins were already trailing when the 20-year-old came on against Exeter City, and the high-flying hosts fired a second goal ten minutes later to seal a 2-0 victory at St James Park.
