Get Well Soon Glenn, Say Hughton And Barber

By Paul Camillin • 27 October 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton and chief executive Paul Barber have both sent get-well-soon messages to their friend and former England manager Glenn Hoddle.

Former Spurs and England midfielder Hoddle collapsed ahead of today’s BT Sport Score programme, and was rushed to hospital.

The latest reports say Hoddle — who was 61 today — is responding well to specialist treatment, but remains seriously ill.

Albion boss Hughton played with Hoddle in Tottenham’s youth team, and grew up playing with him at White Hart Lane — and later worked as a coach under his former teammate at the north London club.

Hughton said, “My thoughts and prayers are very much with Glenn. He’s somebody I know very well, I’ve known him since being 12-13 years of age as a youth team player at Tottenham.

“He was a player that we all looked up to. He’s got a very strong character and personality, and I’m sure he’s strong enough to get through this.”

Barber added, “Glenn was a great hero of mine as a Spurs fan growing up. I was the fortunate to get to know Glenn during my time at The FA, and also in my years at Tottenham.

“On behalf of everyone here at the club, we send Glenn our best wishes and wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
