Albion skipper reflects on the performance in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Birmingham City.

A dramatic late equaliser saw captain Maisie Symonds and her teammates rescue a point after trailing 2-0 against Birmingham City in Sunday's WSL game at St Andrew's.

Olivia Garcia pulled one back off the bench before Kiko Seike struck with the final kick of the match, capping off a relentless second-half fightback.

Reflecting on the match, skipper Symonds highlighted the squad's positive mindset despite falling two goals behind early in the second half.

She said, "I think there was a lot of good things about the performance, probably more than bad things. We still played really well after going 1-0 down, it didn't really knock us, we just didn't take our chances.

"Going in at half time, I think the feeling was very positive. We knew that goals would come, but obviously then we conceded straight after half time. Once it was 2-0, it was very difficult, but I think one point is massive considering the circumstances and how the game went."

Symonds credited the team's unwavering belief and the impact of the bench for changing the dynamic in the closing stages.

She added, "I felt it. Even when they scored in the first half I really felt that we had no feeling we were going to lose the game.

"The substitutes brought on a lot of energy. The girls were brilliant that came on, and in the end I felt that we did more than enough to win. But sometimes days like this happen, and we know that Birmingham are always going to be a tough side to come away and play against."

Symonds also paid tribute to the travelling fans in the away end.

She added, "I think we just need to carry all that energy that they brought and getting that last-minute goal with us, and try and take that point and turn it into three next weekend."
