Albion duo Chiamaka Nnadozie and Michelle Agyemang were both honoured at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris this evening, after their nominations on football’s biggest awards stage.
After a summer of international silverware for the Albion pair, it was a night of celebration in Paris as they were recognised among the world’s elite.
Agyemang and Nnadozie were nominated for this year’s Women’s Kopa Trophy and Women’s Yashin Trophy, following their successes with England and Nigeria.

Agyemang has re-joined Albion on a second season-long loan from Arsenal, following an incredible campaign in Switzerland with Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses. The 19-year-old made an immediate impact after her initial England call-up in April, scoring within 41 seconds of coming off the bench against Belgium.
Her momentum continued into the Euros, where she scored vital goals in the quarter-final against Sweden and the semi-final against Italy. England went on to retain the trophy, beating Spain in the final.
Michelle was named Young Player of the Tournament, and her performances earned her a nomination for the Women’s Kopa Trophy at this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Meanwhile, Nnadozie joined Albion in July from Paris FC ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2024*, where she helped Nigeria win the tournament for the tenth time in history - and her second as a player.
During the summer tournament, she kept four consecutive clean sheets as Nigeria beat Tunisia 3-0, edged Botswana 1-0, and drew 0-0 with Algeria in the group stages, before defeating Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals.
Her commanding performances earned her the Best Goalkeeper award at WAFCON 2024 and a nomination for the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy, making her the first African goalkeeper to be recognised at the Ballon d’Or.
Although neither player took home silverware on the night, their nominations mark a significant milestone.

Dario Vidosic said, “As a club, squad, and everyone affiliated with the women's program at Brighton, we are all really proud of them. It's a fantastic achievement to be recognised for one of the most prestigious awards in the footballing world.
“They both had a tremendous summer and lifting continental trophies after winning the Euros and WAFCON, it just showcases how important they were to the success of both their national teams.
"I'm sure when they were growing up and they were in the back garden and playing football, they were probably dreaming of these moments. For them both to fulfill that in their nomination is incredible.
"They should both be proud of their nomination for this evening."
