Head coach confirms two new appointments.

Albion head coach Arturo Ruiz has appointed Fernando Torres as his new assistant head coach, while the club is also delighted to welcome Scott Rogers as head of coaching.

Ruiz said, “I am delighted to welcome both Scott and Fernando to the team.

“The project at the club was one of the biggest pulls when I joined as head coach. It is key that I have individuals around me who can support, learn and teach as we build the identity we want both on and off the pitch. Both Scott and Fernando possess these qualities.

“Scott has extensive experience within the game and his knowledge will be invaluable across our women’s and girls’ programmes. I’m excited to learn from him and lean on his expertise.

“Fernando is someone who I have known for a long time. He was my coach several years ago when I was still playing.

“We worked together at youth level with Atlético de Madrid before we transitioned into the first team, where we secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League. He was also my assistant head coach at Real Sociedad last season.

“I’m excited to work with Scott and Fernando in this new chapter for us in the WSL.”

Scott joins Albion from Manchester United, bringing extensive experience across women’s, girls’ and boys’ football.

Prior to his move to Sussex, he served as the assistant head coach at United for a year. His broader career includes seven years across two spells at Liverpool - where he served as head coach during his first spell, before returning as assistant head coach for his second - alongside key roles at Accrington Stanley and Blackburn Rovers.

In his new position Scott will oversee coaching and analysis across both the women’s first team and girls’ academy.

Fernando joins Albion from Real Sociedad, bringing a wealth of experience across elite youth development and women’s professional football. His background includes over a decade coaching academy teams in Madrid before spending four years at Atlético de Madrid Women.

There, he progressed from coaching roles with the under-17 and C teams to spending two and a half years as assistant head coach and first team analyst for Atlético de Madrid’s women’s first team.

Arthur Brammer will remain as women’s first-team coach and Ben Morella as goalkeeping coach.
