Lily Dent has been making waves on the international stage at the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup.

Dent, who is on loan at Sunderland this season, has enjoyed a successful opening two games in Poland with Lydia Bedford’s young Lionesses.

Following a 1-1 draw against Canada and a confident 5-1 victory over Tanzania, England’s U20s will look to extend their unbeaten group-stage run when they face Brazil next.

In the opening match against the Canadians, Dent played a solid 77 minutes and looked dangerous in attack throughout to help seal a draw.

In their dominant win over Tanzania, Lily captained the side and provided an assist on the cusp of half-time to help give the young Lionesses a commanding 4-0 lead at the break before being substituted off.

Interim girls' academy manager Mikey Harris said: “As a football club, we are incredibly proud to have one of our players represent their country at a World Cup.

“Lily has started both group games, and for Lydia Bedford to hand her the captaincy for the second match speaks volumes about her character and leadership skills.

“We look forward to following her progress as the tournament develops.”

Dent and the young Lionesses will face Brazil in their final group stage match on Friday at the Stadion Miejski in Poland, aiming to secure their place in the last 16.
