Albion launch 'Be a Hero' in support of Samaritans' Together Against Suicide campaign

To mark World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September 2026, we are proud to launch the second season of Together Against Suicide, our Premier League-funded partnership with Samaritans.

Suicide remains a leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, with someone taking their own life every 90 minutes.

Since September 2025, this initiative has used football as a way to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect people with the support they need.

Our first season reached millions of people on social media through our "Kick off the conversation" campaign video. For the 2026/27 season, we’re keeping that momentum going by building on those achievements across three key pillars:

1. Media Campaign: 'Be a Hero'

Ahead of Saturday's match, we were proud to once again support @Samaritans and the @PremierLeague's #TogetherAgainstSuicide campaign. 🙏

What's new: Look out for our brand-new 'Be a Hero' short video series launching across our social media channels this season.

The impact: Building on last season's outreach, these videos are designed to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and encourage supporters to seek help or check in on those around them.

2. Matchday Support: On-the-Ground Presence & Group walk to stadium

Samaritans on matchdays: For every weekend home match (covering both our Men’s First Team and Women’s First Team), Samaritans Listening Volunteers will be present on the concourses at the American Express Stadium and Broadfield Stadium.

Safe spaces: If you or someone you know needs a friendly, confidential ear, you can speak to a volunteer face-to-face. If you need help finding them, simply ask a steward on a matchday.

New pre-match walk: We’re excited to announce a new walk starting on 19 September 2026 for our home match against Arsenal. Led by Men Walking Talking, the walk starts at the Pavilion, takes just under two hours, and ends at the Terrace in time for kick-off.

3. Training: Free 'Learn to Listen' Workshops

Last season's success: More than 700 supporters, staff, and community partners completed our free, two-hour Learn to Listen Like a Samaritan workshop

How to join this season: We're holding workshops at the stadium twice a month, delivered by a trained Samaritans professional.

These sessions are completely free and provide practical listening skills, increase confidence in supporting others, and teach you how to follow up if someone is struggling

Our goal: Help us reach our target of training 1,901 members of the Albion community
