Albion completed a perfect three-game week with another win as they beat Everton 1-0 at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday.
Michelle Agyemang netted her first goal of the new WSL season midway through the first half to secure the victory.
The hosts carried their positive momentum from the week into this afternoon’s match, pressing Everton across all areas of the pitch. However, it was Brian Sorensen’s side who posed the early threat, testing the Albion backline straight from kick-off.
Yuka Momiki and Katja Snoeijs made several breaks into the box, but keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie remained composed and calmly defused the danger.
Rosa Van Gool then launched a rocket from the edge of the area, firing through a crowd of bodies. But Nnadozie once again demonstrated why she was a Ballon d’Or nominee this year, reacting swiftly to deny the effort with a diving save.
Albion soon shifted the momentum. Rosa Kafaji reminded the Broadfield crowd of her attacking prowess from last week, weaving through the Everton defence before unleashing a strike destined for the net. Yet, Emily Ramsey managed to get a crucial touch and clear.
Dario Vidosic’s side continued to build the pressure. Some slick link-up play between Fran Kirby and Kiko Seike down the right flank carved open space in the Everton box.
Kirby chipped a clever ball over the defence to find Kafaji at the back post. Her inventive scorpion kick was blocked, but the rebound fell to Agyemang, who volleyed home to break the deadlock.
Albion continued to push forward at the start of the second half, but Everton returned from the break with renewed intent to level the score.
Despite a few promising chances, Vidosic’s defence stood firm, intercepting each threat and turning play back toward the Everton goal.
With five minutes added on by the fourth official, Everton pressed for a late equaliser, but the home side retained possession and wore down the visitors’ backline.
The result sees Albion sit sixth in the WSL table after four games, with Spurs away up next.
