Dario Vidosic says he will be ‘extremely proud’ to lead his team out at Wembley after Albion reached the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final.
“It’s a huge and fantastic achievement, especially as it’s the first time in our history,” said the head coach after Nadine Noordam scored an injury-time winner as Albion came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Liverpool.
“Going to the home of football is something special and a privilege we are going to enjoy. It’s tough to get there and we’re one of only two teams who will be playing in the final. So I’m extremely proud of the girls and to be leading the team out at Wembley.
“The scenes at the end were great, to see the joy on the faces of the fans. It was nice to take a step back and watch everyone celebrate.”
Albion’s afternoon didn’t appear to be going to plan when Liverpool scored twice in the opening 22 minutes.
But Manuela Vanegas pulled one back and in the second half Albion dominated.
“It was one of the best halves we’ve played" added Vidosic. "We were so dominant and I felt the goal was coming.”
After Fran Kirby hit the post Madison Haley equalised with a header before Noordam scored her first goal for the club in a dramatic finale.
“I always try to stay even. The best thing about our game is you can never be perfect - you can always get better," added Vidosic.
“We still have a very important league game against Tottenham on Saturday, when we could get our record WSL points tally with a victory.
"So we will enjoy today and the girls deserve to, but we’ve got a very special end to the season to look forward to and we have to embrace that.”
The FA Cup final is on Sunday 31 May when Albion will play either Manchester City or Chelsea.
