Albion's head coach reflects on the 4-0 defeat at Wembley in the FA Cup final.

Head coach Dario Vidosic believes Albion’s FA Cup final disappointment can be used as motivation to do even better next season.

In their first appearance at Wembley, Albion lost 4-0 to Manchester City with the league champions’ clinical finishing proving the difference after Albion, backed by thousands of fans in a crowd of 43,917, dominated the opening 35 minutes.

Vidosic said, “This will hurt for a little while, but hopefully we can use that motivation and that fire for next season, starting in pre-season.

“To show that bravery, to play the way we did, to pin them back [was pleasing], and it looked like we were causing them a lot of issues. Then, conceding two soft goals made it very difficult. When they bring the likes of Viv [Miedema] on, and the quality that she possesses, they were very, very lethal today with the chances that they had, and that’s just something that we need to keep working on.

“As much as we’ll be disappointed with today, I feel the result is a little bit unfair on the girls, in particular for the way they performed and their effort.

“But it wasn’t that long ago where we were probably fighting to get five minutes of dominance against a City team, and then to do what we did today, at Wembley, to be that brave, I’m really, really proud.”

Vidosic also paid tribute to Albion supporters, who unveiled a tifo in tribute to his later father, Rado, who had worked as head of girls and football until his death in January.

It was a beautiful thing to see,” Vidosic said. “A massive thank you to the club and the fans. Knowing that Dad would’ve been here today... I’m sure he was, I’m sure he had the best seat in the house watching it. In the end, I think he would’ve been really proud of the girls.”
