The four Academy players who played in Wednesday's Subway League Cup defeat will 'learn a lot' according to head coach Dario Vidosic.
Elliana Martin, Tahirah Heron and and Emilie Gay started the 1-0 defeat to Charlton at the Broadfield Stadium while Taylor Warren replaced the injured Heron in the second half.
Vidosic said: "The main positive from tonight is that a lot of young players got an opportunity and they will learn a lot from the experience. Itâs really good for the Academy and hopefully it wonât be the last time we see them."
Albion bowed out of the competition with a 1-0 defeat after Mary McAteer's first-half goal as Albion made ten changes to their starting line-up with Sunday's Amex game against Leicester City in the WSL in mind.
"We wanted to treat the competition seriously but unfortunately that changed after the first game against Portsmouth when we had a few injuries," added Vidosic.
"Weâve had to prioritise the league and we couldnât afford to lose any more players with a game coming up on Sunday at the Amex and a very heavy schedule for the girls in recent weeks. We looked after the players as much as we can. We want to be as fresh as possible for Sunday.
"In terms of the game we didnât do well enough on the cross for their goal and for all the territorial dominance we had in the second half it turned out to be a frustrating night for us in front of goal."
