Dario Vidosic has praised the efforts of his three Asian Cup finalists after Japan beat hosts Australia 1-0 in Saturday’s final in front of 74,000 fans in Sydney.
Defender Moeka Minami came on in the second half with Japan teammate Kiko Seike an unused substitute while Charlie Rule was on the bench for Australia.
“I am very pleased for Japan. They had an excellent tournament and are worthy winners of the Asian Cup,” said Vidosic.
“It’s always a big achievement to win your continent’s major trophy, their last win was in 2018 and they will now qualify for the World Cup as champions of Asia.
“Charlie has done fantastically this season after a tough few years with injury.
“To play her way into the national team and play her part in the team’s progress to the final she should be very proud.
"I’m sure she will be with the national team for many more years now.”
