Shannon Ruth was delighted that his under-21s ‘showed different sides to their game’ to return to winning ways in Premier League 2.
Two goals from Miah Oriola saw Albion come from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 and claim their first league win since 9 November and move up to 14th in the table.
Oriola equalised from the penalty spot in the first half before volleying home the winner in the last minute of normal time.
Head coach Ruth said, “It was a really good performance and a thoroughly deserved win.
“In recent games we’ve felt we haven’t played poorly by any means. We had a really strong performance in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United but in some of the other games we’ve felt we didn’t get what we deserved.
“Against Wolves it was a hard-fought win and we had to show different sides to our game.
“There were some moments of really nice play but also periods when we had to defend our box, win duels and second balls.
“The other thing that was really pleasing was how we reacted to their goal, which came against the run of play after we’d started really well. Their goal scorer (Dani Angel) was a handful and it was a good finish, but we didn’t lose confidence and kicked on again and got the penalty which Miah put away really nicely.
“In the second half we kept knocking on the door, were patient in the way we built our attacks and Miah’s second was a nice volley at the far post. I was pleased with our all-round our performance. Miah had a strong evening but there were a lot of good performances throughout the team.”
Albion return to PL2 action on Sunday (4pm) when they host Birmingham City.
