Nehemiah Oriola was the hero of the hour as his last-minute goal secured a 2-1 win for Albion men’s U21 side at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The livewire forward had got the Seagulls back on level terms with a first-half penalty before netting a much-deserved winner for the visitors.
It was also a much-needed three points for Shannon Ruth’s side, who had gone three league games without a win in Premier League 2.
The game was played at Kidderminster’s Aggborough Stadium and Albion enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and created the game’s first opening when Harry Mills honed in on goal, only to see his 18-yard effort sail over the bar.
Wolves responded with a good chance of their own when forward Dani Angel squared across goal for Myles Dayman, but the full-back’s shot was comfortably held by Albion keeper Steven Hall.
The visitors continued to dominate the ball but it was the hosts who broke the deadlock on 21 minutes when Angel drilled a superb left-foot effort from the edge of the box into the far corner of Hall’s net.

Harvey Griffiths also went close with a half-volley but Albion got back on level terms in the 35th minute when Charlie Penman’s far-post header – from an inswinging Mills corner – was adjudged to have hit a Wolves hand. Referee Matt Scholes had no hesitation pointing to the spot and, despite the home side’s protestations, Oriola kept his cool to send Alfie Brooks the wrong way.
Tyler Silsby also tested keeper Brooks with a 20-yard free-kick on the stroke of half-time while his opposite number Hall was called into action shortly after the break when he kept out a close-range effort from Saheed Olagunju.
Silsby and Jesse Middleton then brought saves out of Brooks with the Seagulls again enjoying long spells of possession, while Hall did well to keep out a low curling effort from Alfie White.
Fireworks could be heard in the adjacent streets and they also arrived on the pitch in the 89th minute when the ball fell to Oriola on the right side of the box. He then pivoted onto his favoured left foot before firing a stinging effort past Brooks.
Albion next face Birmingham City at home this coming Sunday, where they will be hoping for another Midlands scalp and another dominant display.
Albion: Hall, Tasker, Barclay, Penman (sub: Lane 65), Mills, Silsby (Keogh 84), Mackley, Middleton (West 70), Oriola, Nti, Brett (Belmont 65). Subs not used: Jensen.
