Albion's hopes of progressing in the National League Cup have ended following a 1-1 draw at Woking on Tuesday.
Younes Ibrahim looked to have handed the Seagulls all three points and a lifeline in the competition, only for the Cards to net a 90th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot when Ibrahim was harshly adjudged to have handled as he blocked a shot from close range.
With the game drawn, a penalty shoot-out took place which Woking won 4-2 to earn an extra point.
In an opening half that witnessed plenty of endeavour from the Seagulls but little in terms of chances created, it was the hosts who looked more likely to break the deadlock.
Indeed, the Cards created the game's first chance in the 18th minute when Caleb Richards powered down the left but his cross was wasted by the onrushing Josh Osude.
Osude had another chance minutes later when he broke free from the Albion rearguard, only to see his low effort well beaten out by goalkeeper Nils Ramming.

Ramming also saved from Matt Ward while Albion's best chance came when Harry Howell stood up a dangerous cross which was cleared away for a corner.
It was a different looking Albion that came out after the break and they opened their account in the 56th minute when a good passage of play resulted in Charlie Tasker crossing low for Ibrahim to tuck home.
Harry Beautyman headed wide for Woking while Jesse Middleton came close to doubling Albion's lead, only to see his 20-yard drive come crashing back off the crossbar.
The late drama came in the 87th minute when Richards' shot was blocked by Ibrahim and, while Albion were expecting to defend a corner, the referee signalled handball. Up stepped Josh Kelly to send Ramming the wrong way from the penalty spot.

With Ibrahim needing treatment for his efforts eight minutes of injury time were signalled, and the lively forward almost won the game late on only to see his close-range effort superbly saved by keeper Craig Ross.
Albion: Ramming, Mackley, Simmonds (sub: Owusu 90), Penman, Barclay, Middleton, Tasker (Hayden 62), Howell (Belmont 45), Ibrahim, Keogh (Kasvosve 90), Brett (West 62). Subs not used: Jensen, Brennan.
