Under-18s head coach Bjorn Hamberg was delighted with the way his team gelled in their 4-1 win over Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday despite only having one training session together.
A mixed team of under-21s and under-18s ensured Albion saw off the step four side to reach the semi-finals of the Sussex Transport Senior Cup.
“It’s another good win against a senior side,” Hamberg said. “I thought they played some nice stuff and tested us. From a team perspective it was good to score a few nice goals. Our play was on the front foot and was rewarded with three first-half goals – you have to be satisfied with that.

“We could probably find better solutions sometimes in build-up and be a little smarter in how we kill the game off.
“We knew they were going to come out and try to get back into the game quickly in the second half. They scored when we had the most control in the game and that made it a bit more scrappy and saw the game move back to front a lot faster.
“It was a good challenge. We had one training session with players from both age groups (under-21s and under-18s) for 45 minutes. That will happen again this season and in their careers. Football is a lot about relationships and how players understands those around them.

“Sometimes we probably got that a little bit mismatched but when we got to the final third it became a little bit more about individual quality, and the boys showed that.
“Bognor have played and trained together regularly. We haven't played for three weeks and we had one training session, so we knew it wouldn’t be perfect but we’re still pleased.”
The semi-final draw is due to take place later on this month, with Three Bridges also confirming their place. The quarter-finals between Broadbridge Heath and Worthing and Horsham YMCA v Eastbourne Borough were postponed.
