A last-gasp Kofi Shaw goal ensured our men's under-21s took a deserved share of the spoils in a 3-3 draw against high-flying Bournemouth at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.
While the Seagulls dominated in terms of possession, scoring in either half through Henry Kasvosve and a Tyler Silsby penalty, the visitors looked set to take all three points as the game entered its dying embers.
Albion were then handed one last throw of the dice as Miah Oriola picked up the ball on the right. He then played a quick pass inside the box to substitute Shaw, who swept the ball home beyond Cherries keeper Ben Westcott.
In what was an evenly matched and entertaining game, Albion made their intentions clear as early as the third minute when Oriola turned superbly before firing narrowly wide. Valentin Joseph also broke free moments later but as he squared to Younes Ibrahim, the winger slipped as he set to shoot.

Facing a Bournemouth side that had won three of their opening four Premier League 2 fixtures, Albion continued to dominate possession, but the visitors always looked a danger on the break. But against the run of play, they took the lead on 14 minutes when Eugene Nyarko pounced on a pass out from Albion keeper Michael Dike. The striker then squared to Cherries skipper Charlie Stevens who swept the ball into an empty net.
The lead, however, lasted just two minutes as Henry Kasvosve – on his first league start for the Seagulls – broke down the right, then cut inside his marker before curling a delightful left-footed effort into the corner of Westcott’s net.
Dike redeemed himself by saving well from Dane Ndimukum while at the other end, Oriola showed great feet down the left only to shoot weakly at Westcott.
The half continued to ebb and flow, but it was the visitors who took the lead on the stroke of half time when the impressive George Chubinidze got the better of Tate Ferdinand down the right before firing the ball across Dike and into the bottom corner of the net.

Albion got back on level terms for a second time when Bournemouth sub Jaheim Scafe brought down Joseph inside the box. Referee Callum Walchester pointed to the spot and up stepped Silsby to net his third goal in three games with an hour played.
As the hosts again started to get on top, Bournemouth remained a danger down the flanks and, against the run of play once again, Stevens scuffed an effort beyond Dike following good work from Chubinidze.
Albion looked set to suffer their third defeat in the competition this season but as they continued to push hard for the equaliser, the reward came in the 94th minute when Shaw fired home.
