Our men’s under-18s scored a last minute winner as they came from behind to beat Southampton 2-1 on Wednesday.
Saints took an early lead when Nicholas Oyekunle curled in a shot from the edge of the box, but Albion responded after four minutes when Shane Nti tucked home from a low ball in from the right.
The turnaround was complete in the 90th minute when Albion won possession high up the pitch and Ronnie Gorman got away from his marker and curled a shot into the net from 12-yards.
The win brought an end to a run of three straight defeats in Premier League South for the under-18s, who sit fifth in the division after 11 games.
Head coach Inigo Calderon said, “I am happy with the boys. They deserved to get something. They showed great character.
“It was not our best day in terms of quality, but because of that we saw that character can help you find the way to win.
“It's really important that we got this win going into the break for Christmas.
“They need to enjoy their Christmas and they need to rest a little bit because we have to get back to our best. I am happy for the boys and hope they enjoy their time with their families.”
