Van Hecke praises ‘brilliant’ Foundation
Jan Paul van Hecke has praised the brilliant work done in the community by the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation.
The Dutch defender attended a disability football session at the American Express Elite Performance Centre last season and seeing the joy on the faces of the youngsters he met left a lasting impression.
“They do an incredible job,” said JP, who this week was called into the Netherlands squad for the first time ahead of two Nations League qualifiers.
“You see all the people with happy faces, smiling. For us, it was just a little thing to be there and make them happy.
“What the foundation are doing in the community of Brighton & Hove and Sussex is incredible. It's great to see that. Hopefully, they can keep doing that for many years.”
A new video showcasing Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation’s work in the community was unveiled before our Carabao Cup game against Crawley Town last week.
Accompanying the footage is a spoken-word track by Shamann Back - aka Mac Perry – a season ticket holder and local hip-hop artist who is one of the only openly dyspraxic rappers in the UK today.
Shamann will be one of the special guests of the Foundation at their Community Matchday on 22 September, when Albion host Nottingham Forest. There will be lots of activities in and around the Amex stadium to raise awareness of the work of the Foundation.
