Igor Julio has completed a permanent transfer to Burnley, for undisclosed terms.

The Brazilian defender joined us from Fiorentina in 2023, and made 50 appearances in all competitions, including six in our Europa League campaign in 2023/24.

Sporting director Mike Cave said, “Igor has been a good professional throughout his time here. He played regularly during our first season in European competition. On behalf of all at the club, I would like to thank him for his service and wish him well for the future.”

The 28-year-old played a key role in helping previous club Fiorentina reach the final of the Europa Conference League and came on as a substitute when they lost 2-1 to West Ham United in the final. Fiorentina were also runners-up in the Coppa Italia during that season.

Igor started his career with Santos-based Portuguesa in Brazil before moving to Austria in 2016 where he played for FC Liefering. He had spells in the Austrian top-flight with Red Bull Salzburg and on loan at Wolfsberger and Austria Vienna.
