Lewis Dunk believes that the Albion Foundation Anniversary Ball, held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Tuesday to celebrate 35 years of our official charity, provided another sign of the club’s growth in all areas.
The sold-out black-tie dinner and auction, which raised over £200,000 for the Foundation, was attended by a number of staff and players, and ended with a DJ set from Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
“I think the club's only going one way and only getting bigger and bigger globally, but I don't see us losing the community aspect,” the club captain said.

“It's all about community at this club and helping Sussex the best we can. And us growing as a football club only helps the Foundation get bigger.
“We’re celebrating 35 years, so even when the club wasn’t here, when we had to play in Gillingham, it kept that link with the community. Hopefully it keeps growing for another 35 years and impacts a lot more lives in Sussex that are in need.
“So yes, this is an amazing night for an amazing Foundation and I think it keeps the roots of the club in the community, and that is what makes it special. That's why I wanted to come tonight.”

He has done more than simply turn up, of course. In June, club kit manager Alex 'Buzz' Burrows organised a 35-mile sponsored walk along the coast while pushing skips full of playing kit.
Lewis joined Buzz, his assistant Harry Wood and social media manager Matt Bishop along the way, as did Norman Cook and Masterchef winner Steven Edwards.
“I didn't push much, I just did the walking,” Lewis joked. “But no, I joined him for a day and it was great fun and then we had an auction at night. It raised a lot of money (£42,201), an amazing amount going back to the charity to help people.
“I wanted to help celebrate him doing that. Obviously, schedules in football now are very busy and dictate how much any of us can do a lot of time, but whenever I can help, I will.”
