Former Albion defender Don Shanks is running the New York City marathon in November for Alzheimer's Society.
The 72-year-old is hoping to raise £100,000 for the charity, and you can donate to his JustGiving page here.
He said, “This cause is deeply personal to me. I’ve seen first-hand how dementia has affected so many in the football community — including my great friend and teammate Stan Bowles, who we sadly lost last year.
“Stan has gone, but Alzheimer’s has not.
“Stan gave everything to the game, and I promised I would keep supporting the fight against dementia in his name.
“Running 26.2 miles in New York is a big challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the daily battles faced by those living with Alzheimer’s and their families. By donating, you’ll be helping to fund life-changing research, support services, and the vital work that the Alzheimer’s Society carries out every day.”
The right back made 54 appearances for Albion, signing for us in 1981 following his departure from QPR.
