Albion’s under-21s were beaten in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Three Bridges in Wednesday’s Sussex Transport Senior Cup final at the Amex.
After a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes there were nine successful spot-kicks before Joe Belmont’s effort was superbly saved diving to his right by Bridges’ keeper Sam Roberts.

Bridges had gone in front through Reece Hallard but skipper Zane Albarus equalised before half-time and Albion twice hit the woodwork in the second half but couldn’t find a winner in normal time.
Both sides struggled to impose themselves in a scrappy opening although Aidan West did force Roberts into a comfortable save with a shot from the edge of the box.

Bridges began to relish their task and took the lead on 31 minutes. Dan Ferreira’s cross should have been cleared and fell to Hallard whose right-foot shot from ten yards into the bottom corner was his 33rd goal of the season.
Their lead lasted nine minutes. Harry Mills and Kofi Shaw combined down the left and Shaw’s low ball into the box was expertly side-footed past Roberts by skipper Albarus.
Shaw rattled the crossbar after cutting inside 12 minutes into the second half before substitute Henry Kasvosve missed a great chance with his first touch. Albarus led a break into the box and squared to his unmarked teammate, but Kasvosve side-footed wide of a gaping goal.

Albion were denied by a combination of the crossbar and keeper Roberts in the closing stages when Younes Ibrahim touched Kasvosve’s cross towards goal but penalties it was.
Bridges scored all five of theirs and Ibrahim, Kasvosve, Shane Nti and West all netted for Albion before Roberts won it for Bridges, who won the trophy for the first time in their history to go with the Isthmian League South-East title they clinched last month.
