Rebekah Stott has won New Zealand Women’s International Player of the Year award.
The Football Ferns international also won the prize in 2018 and has been recognised for her efforts with both her country and previous club Melbourne City.
She said, “It’s so cool to be recognised by the federation. There’s a lot of amazing players for them to choose from – I feel honoured.
“It would have been great to be able to go to the ceremony, but I recorded a message. I am pretty happy I didn’t have to make the flight home!
“My teammates both at club and country level have helped me win the award. We play together so it’s their award as much as it’s mine.”
The 27-year-old joined Albion on a one-year deal in the summer and has already fitted in well into the squad.
“I’ve been loving it here, in the league we’ve put ourselves in a really good position for the upcoming matches because of how well we’ve done.
“It is in my opinion the best league in the world – certainly the best I have played in. The quality of players already in the league and the ones who have come in reflect that.
“I love coming up against players from so many different nationalities from across the world. I love playing for this team.
“I really enjoy working with Hope Powell. She is not like any coach I have worked with before. She pushes and challenges and that’s only going to get the best out of me.”
