Rebekah Stott opens the scoring for Albion.

Albion defender Rebekah Stott has returned to Australia for medical reasons.

Rebekah, 27, who joined the club last summer made seven appearances for the Seagulls.

Rebekah has won more than 70 caps for New Zealand and played in the last two World Cup finals. She joined Albion having previously played in Australia, United States and Norway.

She said, “I would like to inform everyone that I have returned home to Australia due to medical reasons.

“Although disappointed that I will miss the remainder of the FA WSL season, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Brighton & Hove Albion so far and wish Hope and the girls the very best of luck for the remainder of the season.

“I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me so far.

"I will share an update on my health when I am ready, but until then I ask that everyone respects my privacy at this time."

Head coach Hope Powell said: “We wish Rebekah all the best and fully support her decision to return home. In her relatively short time with us Stotty has become an extremely popular member of the squad who is liked and respected by everyone and we wish her all the best.”
