Graham Potter is looking forward to seeing his younger players get their opportunity at Cardiff City tonight in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Because of the quick turnaround in Premier League fixtures, the head coach will utilise his squad against the Championship side.
He said, âI am really excited to see some of our younger players in action. The game itself is going to be really tough, but thatâs what you want so you can see where theyâre at. Itâll be different in many ways to what theyâre used to so itâs how they adapt.
âThis game is an opportunity for those young players to take another step in their career by experiencing a tough game against Championship opposition, which is something a few of them wonât have done before.
âThere are a lot of young players in the club that have good futures and itâs up to us to select the right ones at the right time to give them a chance and at the same time develop the team and improve the club.â
Cardiff arenât to be underestimated, according to Potter.
âBecause they play in the Championship they have got a big squad but whoever plays they will be organised, will play to their strengths and be competitive and resilient.
âThey will be everything you would expect from a Mick McCarthy team and they will want to win. Itâs going to be a really good test.â
