Pascal Gross has a shot blocked by Malick Thiaw - it appears to strike his hand but the protests are waved away - the ball flies up in the air and Babis Kostoulas pulls off a terrific bicycle-kick to send it towards the bottom corner, but Nick Pope tips it away!

Sandro Tonali is booked for the most blatant time wasting, as he throws the ball over his head after Newcastle are awarded a goal-kick.

That's desperately close to an equaliser. Pascal Gross gets down the left of the Newcastle box and crosses low, with both Danny Welbeck and Jan Paul van Hecke stretching to get there, but neither can reach to poke home!

Pascal Gross picks out Jack Hinshelwood from a corner about eight yards out, but he sends his header well over the Magpies' goal.

Dan Burn gets a booking for tripping Joel Veltman just inside the Newcastle half. Probably more a case of an accumulation of fouls for the big centre back rather than for the challenge.

Pascal Gross' cross is flicked on by Sven Botman and strikes the arm of Kaoru Mitoma, which sends it towards goal and Nick Pope does well to dive down and keep it from crossing the line. The referee then gives a free-kick in Newcastle's favour for handball.

Jan Paul van Hecke does superbly to intercept Jacob Murphy's cross from the right, but sends it back towards his own goal. Bart Verbruggen doesn't take the risk of it being a back-pass, controlling it on his chest and volleying away the danger.

Albion are riding their luck now. Miley's cross from the right is headed towards goal by Osula, Verbruggen keeps it out, Welbeck's clearance smacks a player directly in front of him and Thiaw has a pop from eight yards, but he smashes over.

It looked for all the world that Jack Hinshelwood's hard work had been rewarded there as he charges down a Nick Pope clearance and blocks it, with the ball seemingly spinning in, but it hits the post and bounces away from goal!

Carlos Baleba gets possession 25 yards from the Newcastle box, gets it onto his leg and curls a terrific effort that catches the top of the crossbar and goes behind for a goal-kick. He went for accuracy there and it nearly paid dividends.

Kaoru Mitoma brings down a pass exquisitely to take Malick Thiaw out of the game on the Albion left. He plays it into the box and Jack Hinshelwood hits it first time from 15 yards, directing it towards the bottom right corner, but Nick Pope dives down to his left to keep it out!
