Fabian Hurzeler makes two changes as Danny Welbeck and Babis Kostoulas replace Jack Hinshelwood and Georginio Rutter.

The ball falls for Wieffer on the right of the box but from a tight angle he gets under the ball and sends it miles over the crossbar. Albion have had chances, but they've not utilised them today.

That's a lovely move down the left as Mitoma is played in by Georginio. The winger runs at goal from a tight angle and tries to squeeze a shot past Alisson who runs out to block, but the Japan international shoots wide.

A double Albion change sees Brajan Gruda and Carlos Baleba replaced by Kaoru Mitoma and Yasin Ayari.

Konate is booked for a late challenge on Gruda.

Lewis Dunk is deemed to have tripped Alexis Mac Allister as the Liverpool man countered. There doesn't look like there's any contact though. Craig Pawson books the Albion skipper, and it's fair to say Lewis isn't happy about it.

Albion have come out of the blocks a lot quicker this half and having had a great opportunity with Gomez, Albion then see Gruda fire marginally wide from the edge of the box!

That's as good an opportunity as you're ever going to get. Wieffer plays a lovely low cross in from the right, it evades everyone apart from Diego Gomez who meets it at the back-stick with the inside of his left foot, but he hits the outside of the post and it's behind for a goal-kick! We should be level.

Albion have a spell of possession and they work it well as half-time approaches. Baleba has a thumped strike from just inside the box blocked, before Gomez is deemed to have caught Wirtz with a high boot.

Kadioglu's ball over the top is headed into the air by a retreating Curtis Jones who falls over as Minteh gathers the ball. The Gambian sprints at goal but has Liverpool defenders for company before seeing his strike from 20 yards blocked.

Albion burst away from a Liverpool corner and have a 3v2 as Minteh plays it to Georginio. He waits for a runner into the box but gets far too much on his cross and it's behind for a goal-kick.

Salah bursts down the right of the box and you'd expect him to shoot, but he passes to Mac Allister instead who either fluffs it or leaves it for Ekitike (genuinely not sure which). Verbruggen dives down on the ball before it reaches the Reds' frontman and the attack stops there. If Salah gets into that position again, he is surely shooting.

The Liverpool defender is unable to continue and will be replaced by Mo Salah.

The Frenchman gets a first-time strike away from the right of goal, but sends it comfortably wide of the bottom left.

Baleba's shot from the edge of the box is blocked, Georginio then brings the ball down out of the sky and hits an effort into the side netting from an angle. Referee Craig Pawson gives a free-kick to Liverpool for a foul on Konate in the build up.

Minteh threads a lovely through ball to Gomez in the box and he's one-on-one with Alisson, but he attempts to drill it across goal which the Liverpool keeper blocks with his legs! The dink might've been better, but Diego's far better qualified to say what's the better option than this blog writer.

That's a lot closer. Albion cruise through the Liverpool midfield and work it out to Minteh on the right. He cuts in and tries to squeeze a shot into the bottom left corner, but it's just wide. Alisson wasn't sure which side of the post that was going.

Georginio receives the ball in space from Mats Wieffer and opts to have a pop from 25-yards, which he drags well wide of Alisson's goal. Decent power mind, but well off target.

The former Albion man has a bit of space to work on the edge of the box and he uses it to get a shot away, attempting to wrong foot Verbruggen and find the near post, but it's a pea-roller and an easy one for Bart to gather.

Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed the two changes to his starting XI this afternoon were enforced. Brajan Gruda and Jack Hinshelwood have come in for Danny Welbeck and Maxim De Cuyper. "We had to make them because the players had some small issues during the week," Hurzeler explained. "I want to see a team full of togetherness, a team full of belief to win this game today that plays our style of football, no matter in which stadium we are playing. You need courage for that. You need big personality and that's a demand from us."
