Louis Flower netted in the second half to cement our place in the third round.

Our men's under-21s defeated Shoreham 3-0 on Tuesday night to secure their place in the third round of the Sussex Transport Senior Cup.

Albion made a bright start to the match with Louis Flower curling a shot just wide, and in the sixth minute Marcus Ifill had the ball in the net, but the away side’s celebrations were cut short with the goal ruled out for offside.

Josh Duffus put Albion in front at Shoreham.

The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when Josh Duffus blasted into the top corner from the edge of the penalty box. Flower went close again on the half-hour mark, sending his header narrowly past the upright, before Brody Peart nodded in Albion’s second goal to convert Jacob Slater’s pinpoint cross six minutes before half-time.

Broady Peart scored to put us 2-0 up.

A quiet second half was brought to life late on when Flower eventually put his name on the scoresheet with a low, drilled finish on 75 minutes. Slater was denied at the far post by an excellent save by Shoreham’s stopper after the Brighton left-back met a cross with a bullet header.

The Musselmen put up a fight in front of a vocal home crowd, but Albion had too much on the night as they passed their latest test of the season with a solid performance in Shoreham-by-Sea.

Starting XI: Fisher; Tasker, Jackson, Ryan, Slater; Ifill, Hinchy (C), Knight, Peart; Duffus, Flower.

Subs: Mullins, Reid, Barrington, Kavanagh, Baker-Boaitey.
