James Beadle is on the cusp of helping Sheffield Wednesday survive relegation.

Sheffield Wednesday are on the cusp of pulling off a minor miracle having moved out of Championship relegation zone for the first time since the opening day.

Their 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers – in which James Beadle played the full 90 minutes – sees them go a point clear of Birmingham, who occupy the final relegation place in the second tier, with two matches of the season remaining. Andrew Moran and Yasin Ayari came on for the final five minutes for Rovers.

Swansea City made it three consecutive victories, and impressively for Carl Rushworth, their 4-0 victory over Huddersfield marked a third consecutive clean sheet.

Marc Leonard’s Northampton Town were beaten 2-1 at home by Exeter City, while Jensen Weir came on for the final 13 minutes of Port Vale’s 2-0 defeat to Bolton. The loss confirms the Valiants’ relegation back to the fourth tier.

Abdallah Sima came on for the final 15 minutes of Rangers’ 2-0 win over Hearts to reach the final of the Scottish Cup, where they will face Celtic.

In Belgium, Steven Alzate scored in Standard Liege’s 3-3 draw against KVC Westerlo, having been 3-1 down with 75 minutes played.

Deniz Undav’s second goal in as many games wasn’t enough to stop Stuttgart falling to a 3-1 defeat to Werder Bremen – Mo Dahoud came on for the final 25 minutes for Stuttgart, as they suffered their first defeat since 20 January.
