Jack Hinshelwood has made 18 first team appearances.

You can now listen to the latest edition of the Brighton & Hove Albion podcast, as Paul Hayward and Glenn Murray sit down with Jack Hinshelwood.

The Albion academy graduate was a regular before picking up an ankle injury in February, with the break from first-team responsibilities giving him the opportunity to look back on his breakthrough season.

“With the way things were going there wasn’t time to look back, it felt like we had a lot of games and it kept going," Jack said.

“With the injury it’s given me time to reflect on the recent months and what I’ve achieved. I can use this time to think about the good moments and the moments I can improve.”

The 18-year-old’s first start came at Villa Park earlier on this campaign, having made his debut as a substitute there on the final day of last season.

“It was a great feeling. I had my first taste of first-team football at Villa at the end of last season and then to get my first start there was a bit weird!

“Walking out on the pitch that day last season was a special feeling, that’s the sort of thing you work towards when you join the academy.

“Obviously it was a disappointing result that day and I had to wait a few months for my next chance, but getting it made it all worth it.”
