The interim head coach was appointed at the beginning of February.

Interim women’s head coach Mikey Harris says his team need to learn from their tough recent run as they head into the final six games of the WSL campaign.

Harris has overseen one win in four league matches – defeating Bristol City 7-3 - while suffering defeats to top five sides Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Albion face Leicester City on Sunday at the King Power Stadium knowing a win would take them above the Foxes and possibly as high as seventh, depending on how Everton get on in their Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

“I am really pleased with the direction we’re moving in from a performance perspective, we’ve got some really key areas of the game that we’re trying to build on," Harris said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“It doesn’t happen overnight, it’s not a quick fix. We have to build on moments. You want to challenge yourself against the best teams and we know we’ve had a couple of difficult results but you have to experience them and build on them.

“I feel like we’re doing that and it’s been a good couple of days post the Manchester City game and we’re in a really good place going into Leicester.

Mikey Harris has overseen one win in the WSL in four games in charge.

“It’s all about the next game, but for me and the club it’s the bigger picture of trying to move closer toward the vision and doing it in the style and identity of the football club.”

With the Foxes in such close proximity in the league table – just two points ahead of us – Harris is expecting a tightly contested affair.

“If you look at the league table it would suggest that it will be a balanced game. But the game not played on paper.

Mikey Harris's Leicester City press conference

“If we’re at our best and play to the levels we’re capable of I think we can compete with anyone in the division on our day. We will be going into the game full of confidence.

“I am sure they will be really up for it as well as we’re in a similar situation in the league.

“It’s fantastic to be playing at their [King Power] stadium because all players and coaches want to play at the biggest grounds in front of the biggest crowds. That will give us a bit of added motivation as I am sure it will for them too.”
