Losada: We need to stick together

Vicky Losada was disappointed to lose against Spurs on Sunday and insisted the squad need to 'keep working' ahead of another tough run of matches.

Albion took the lead in front of a record WSL crowd at the Amex thanks to Elisabeth Terland's header, but after the Norwegian striker's third league goal of the season in as many matches, Spurs fought back to win 3-1.

After winning on the opening weekend of the season against Everton, Melissa Phillips' team have now lost consecutive league matches - with Continental Cup victory at Birmingham City sandwiched in between - and Losada wants to bounce back as soon as possible.

The Albion captain said, "The level of this league is very high and we just need to keep working. It was a big test for us [against Spurs], and we started the first half with enough intensity, but Spurs are a really good team and move the ball well.

"We did well to score first but it's sometimes hard to manage an early goal. I thought we could've been better at managing some moments during the game. They were pressing and their intensity was high. 

"We changed the formation and pressed higher in the second half, but this level is very high and we need to keep working and respond quickly." 

Despite the defeat, Losada is not dwelling on the result and the Spaniard is already focused on playing Chelsea away next weekend.

"This is a hard result to take but tomorrow is a new day," she added. "We have to be strong, analyse the game, and stick together. We have a tough game next week, but that's football - we have to keep working and get better. 

"We wanted to get the win today for the fans, but it's also a day to celebrate with a record attendance. This club wants to make the women's team more successful and we're in the process of that. We need to stick together and look forward."
