Antef Tsoungui made his professional debut in the win over Cardiff City.

Brighton & Hove Albion are pleased to announce that under-23s defender Antef Tsoungui has signed a contract extension that runs until 2023.

The 19-year-old made his first professional start in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Cardiff City in August, but an injury suffered in an under-23s game in December will see him ruled out until towards the end of the campaign.

Tsoungui said, “This contract is something I’ve really wanted to get done as there are a lot of opportunities for young players at this club. I got to make my first-team debut, I want to experience playing in the first team, or out on loan in the future.

“It’s good to know that the club have faith in me and I cannot wait to get back to full fitness."

The centre-back is pleased with how his rehabilitation is going and added, “I am positive in that I can aim to be back towards the end of the season. It’s all the motivation I need to make sure I am doing all of my recovery work to the best of my ability.”

Tsoungui joined Albion from Chelsea in 2018 and has played for Belgium up to under-19 level.
