Tariq Lamptey has thanked Albion fans for their support after he made his long-awaited return to Premier League action.
The 20-year-old came on in the second half of Saturday’s goalless draw at Norwich City to a fantastic reception from the travelling fans, and Lamptey says the supportive messages they sent helped him get through the ten months since his last League game at Fulham back in December 2020.
He said, “The fans have been incredible throughout. The messages they have been sending me have been fantastic, I really appreciate them. They were brilliant the other day [when I made my comeback against Swansea City] and on Saturday they made me feel so happy, I am so lucky, so I just want to say a big thank you to them.”
Now he has returned Lamptey is itching for more action, with Albion hosting champions Manchester City in their next game at the Amex on Saturday.
“Once you are back in and get a taste for it, you just want to work as hard as possible in training and when you come on the pitch try and help the team and I am really looking forward to doing more now.
“A draw was probably a fair result against Norwich but there were positives like another clean sheet but also things we can improve on. Manchester City are obviously a top team but we’re looking forward to that challenge, especially in front of our own fans.”
