Tariq Lamptey

Lamptey arrived at Brighton and Hove Albion from Chelsea on the final day of the January transfer window in 2020, signing a deal to keep him with the Seagulls until at least 2023.

The Hillingdon-born defender joined Chelsea as a seven-year-old and progressed to their under-18s, making his debut at the age of 16.

In 2019 he was part of the England squad at the Under-19 European Championships and also played for Chelsea’s under-23s before arriving at Albion.

He made his senior debut against Arsenal in the Premier League in December 2019, and made two further appearances for Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup before moving to The Amex.

Tariq made his Seagulls debut in June 2020, putting in a Man of the Match performance against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

He finished the 2019/20 Premier League campaign with eight league appearances for Albion.

The 2020/21 season would prove to be one of frustration for Lamptey, who despite impressing during the 11 appearances he made, had his campaign curtailed by a hamstring injury, which saw him miss the season from December onwards.

Despite the injury, Albion ensured the full-back's long-term future was on the south coast, as Lamptey signed a contract in January 2021 until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Tariq returned to first team duties in October 2021, with his appearance on the final day of the 2021/22 season marking his 50th in the Premier League.

Having represented England up to under-21 level, the right-back chose to represent Ghana at senior level, who he made his debut for in September 2022. He was named in the Black Stars' 26-man squad for the Qatar World Cup, where he made two appearances, as Ghana failed to get out of the group stages.
