Aaron Connolly

Aaron Connolly signed his scholarship with Albion in the summer of 2016, joining up with the under-18s.

He progressed quickly through the ranks and made his first team debut at the age of 17, coming on as a substitute against Barnet.

The Irishman had a successful 2018/19 season, as he scored 17 goals for Simon Rusk’s under-23s side, including a hat-trick against MK Dons in the Checkatrade Trophy; a campaign which saw him win the PL2 Player of the Season award. He also had a brief spell with then League One Luton Town, making two appearances as the Hatters were promoted as champions from League One.

The 20-year-old scored his first senior goal in a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup, and made his Premier League debut away at Manchester City in August 2019. He subsequently went onto appear in the games against Burnley, Newcastle United and Chelsea, before netting his first two Premier League goals in a stunning 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

His club form earned him a call-up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad, and he made his senior debut as a 79th-minute substitute in a goalless draw against Georgia in Tbilisi, before earning his first start in a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland.

The striker has also represented Republic of Ireland at under-17, under-18 and under-19 and under-21 level.
