A look at the experienced midfielder's career.

Born in Wandsworth, Steve Sidwell began his career with Arsenal. He spent time on loan under Steve Coppell at both Brentford and Albion, before moving to Reading in January 2003.

He helped Reading win promotion to the Premier League in 2005, and joined Jose Mourinho's Chelsea on a free transfer in the summer of 2007.

He's subsequently played in the Premier League at Aston Villa and Fulham - where he played alongside Bobby Zamora, Liam Rosenior and David Stockdale - and at Stoke City.

He's made in excess of 400 senior appearances, scoring over 60 goals - and five of those came in his initial 12-game spell with Albion. Sidwell has also represented England at under-21 level.

Since returning to the south coast, Sidwell played a key role in the club's push for promotion, and is fondly remembered for his 50-yard strike against Bristol City, which was chosen as the 2016/17 EFL Goal of the Season.
